The Rutland City Fire Department received a request for additional resources to respond to the small plane crash, firefighter Kyle Robillard told the Vermont Digger.
An emergency alert was also sent to parents and students at the nearby Burr & Burton Academy, a private boarding school in Manchester, reports WCAX.
The cause of the crash is unknown and no details have yet been given on the conditions of the pilot and passengers, or the type of aircraft involved.
